Freetown is
a unique roots-funk-rock musical force. It is a three piece consisting of guitar/vocals,
sax and drums. The trio is extra tight in delivering the Freetown message to audiences,
creating hypnotic jungles of sound and fearlessly jamming at the drop of a hat. Freetown
is big funky drum beats synched up with tight, innovative guitar parts. The icing on the
cake is the smooth and powerful vocal melodies of Paul Appelkamp and the unrivalled sax
playing of Adam Somerville. Boundaries are imaginary lines made to benefit those who
create them. Freetown exposes and questions this social construction lyrically and
musically. So remember to open your mind and enjoy a trip to Freetown, "the real
ideal". ![l_24d04746f8f12a148a4e5388fb656639[1].jpg (15663 bytes)](l_24d04746f8f12a148a4e5388fb656639[1].jpg)
The three piece has been
performing live since late 2007, where each individual was focused on other projects up to
that point. They have now joined together to push music creatively and aesthetically
beyond its limits through the hybrid force now known as Freetown. They have recorded 6
tracks in 2008 and are looking to give the Australian music scene a decent shake up. |
