The Sound Stash

Foot-To-The-Floor Hardcore 2002
Throwdown's live delivery was always undeniably impressive, with every song played at maximum velocity and intensity. Undoubtedly the most lethally skilled line-up ever assembled from the Shire.
Kyle & Bev's in-ya-face dual vocals always tore it up. Trouser was the precision machine who's drumming pushed the pace to break-neck speed. At a time when lead guitar had all but vanished, Bev & D boldly went the full shred.

Proudly independent and self managed.
The band always had plenty of action going on with regular touring to W.A. (Tour pics here), ACT, & QLD. Multiple endorsements from Surf apparel companies and Guarana products, and connections to the underworld.

ThrowdownDrive It Like You Stole It

The 2nd full length album from Cronulla DIY kings Throwdown continues with the foot to the floor hardcore sound they’ve become reknown for and is as good as any of their previous material to date. Things start off with the sound of the ocean before going full throttle into opening track ‘Shark Island’, which is about the world famous wave off Cronulla Point, and it’s a bloody beauty. Quite a few of the tracks have lyrics relating to the ocean/surfing which I totally relate to, but they also have lyrics which are about such topics as when Bevynn got interviewed about a murder, lost friends and being an underground band. They also included a cover of the Cro Mags classic ‘Hard Times’ and the Frenzal Rhomb-ish cover of Rolf Harris’ ‘Sydney Town’ complete with banjo and harp. This album shows a bit more diversity in the Throwdown sound, sure they haven’t strayed much from the proven formula (and they bloody well shouldn’t!) but it sounds like they’ve tried a few extra things with this release. It still has the awesome dual vocals, the great guitar riffs and the quick fire drumming of Trousers’, it’s Throwdown and it’s fuckin’ killer!

ADAM'S RATING : 8.5/10
